I hope you all had a great day, whether you celebrate or not!

I started Christmas morning with an egg white omelet with Laughing Cow and some apple with cinnamon.  And coffee, of course.  After opening presents, my mom and stepdad headed to his sister’s house and my brother and I just hung around until it was time to go to my aunt and uncle’s.  We were supposed to be there around 1:30, so I figured we’d be eating around 2 but I wasn’t sure.  I also didn’t know what we’d be eating, so I ate a small lunch around 12:30.

Half a hummus and spinach sandwich, green beans with salt and pepper, and spicy black bean soup with a dollop of Fage

We ended up opening presents around 3 and not eating until 4:30ish.  I snacked on a couple plates of apple, pear, blackberry, and pomegranate fruit salad – yum!  For “dinner” I had salad – mixed green with mushroom, cucumbers, balsamic vinegar, and EVOO – plus veggie picked out from some vegetable fried rice and some roasted chicken.  Eating at weird times throws my stomach off.  I don’t understand why we can’t eat meals at normal times on holidays.  It seems like an American tradition to eat a huge meal in the middle of the afternoon, with snacking before and desserts after.  I think that’s part of the problem people have with holidays and overeating.  If we just kept meal times the same, I don’t think people would overeat as much or have to strategize!

Anyway, before bed I ended up snacking on a piece of whole wheat bread smeared with a plain Laughing Cow wedge.  At first I didn’t know what I wanted – I heated up some soup (Campbell’s Chicken Tortilla) but it was gross and too much food anyway.  Then I decided on a CrackWich, but ended up putting the hummus and hot sauce back into the fridge.  Sometimes simplicity is best when it comes to snacks.

I woke up this morning and had coffee and half an apple pie Larabar before heading to the gym:

I took it relatively easy – at least on the treadmill.  Still incredibly bored on it – 3.1m in 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes on the stair mill and 15 on the elliptical – the last half in reverse mode.  I did reverse mode today and on Christmas Eve.  It’s something that quickly becomes obvious I never do, since I feel my quads and other muscles working in ways the stair mill, running, and forward ellipticalling do not make them.  It’s hard.

Breakfast part two was simple and quick:

Plain Cheerios with skim and half a banana

What was your favorite present of the holiday season? I got lots of fun stuff yesterday!  DVDs, gift cards, new Pandora charms, etc.  Pretty sure my favorites are the Whole Foods gift card from my brother and this:

A Swedish massage from my mom and stepdad!

Off to make lunch and watch season one of Weeds!

My car looks like this:

So, while the roads are fine, there’s no way I’m scraping all that off!

For the third day in a row, I took a cue from MamaPea and went with warm apple cereal:

1/2 Fortune apple, 1 cup MultiGrain Cheerios, skim, some raisins, cinnamon, and TrueVia

Yesterday I did add peaches like I was thinking, but frozen was not the way to go – so I just stuck with apples and raisins today. It was still missing something though. Almonds? Vanilla?

After breakfast my momma and I decorated the tree we got yesterday.

That’s Rudolph. It’s also apparently for Rudolph, as “To: Rudolph Love, Brynne” is scrawled on it.

That’s just presh.

As are my puppies/snuggle buddies. Yes, they are still puppies to me, although they are like 13 in human years.
Lunchers was a platter of many tastes:

Toast with 3 egg whites and French Onion LC wedge, other 1/2 of Fortune from this morning with cinnamon, and a cup of this:

Yummy!
It’s FREEZING in my house when the heat turns off, so I’m keeping warm in my bed with a cup of Candy Cane Lane, Gilmore Girls, and my Santa socks:

Stay warm!

Oh wait, I am!

Currently I am sitting at my kitchen table, having just finished a warm and delicious breakfast, sipping coffee, and listening to Christmas music from my family’s creepy stereo that likes to turn the volume up on its own. Cool. But it is, because I am ECSTATIC to be home for 4 glorious weeks! Last night, as I was having a wonderful night of sleep in the most comfortable bed in all of the land (mine), I actually woke up and thought about how happy I was in that moment – to be home and cozy, warm, and comfortable in my cocoon!

Last night I couldn’t wait til dinner – not surprising considering I literally ate only fruit yesterday. Dinner wasn’t going to happen until 5:30 and at 4:20 I was HANGRY and ate my last apple, a Fortune, to tide me over. It did the trick until an hour later when I was once again ravenous. My little, grand little, and I intended to get dinner at the restaurant at the Student Union, but the wait was over an hour, so we just headed down to the food court. Nothing was appealing at all, so I just had a large side of my fave balsamic grilled veggies. I headed home straight after – and fast, as my bladder, stomach, and hatred of nighttime driving were screaming at me the whole way. I had serious thoughts about stopping for some Whole Foods salad bar along the way, but my mom sealed the deal with the promise of Veggie Patch falafel balls and tzatziki waiting for me in the fridge at home.

I barely made it through the door before whipping up this salad beast of my dreams:

Green leaf lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, falafel balls, pools of hummus and tzatziki + Frank’s, of course
NOM. Just what I wanted/needed. Every taste in there is such a great combination. Please, please, try and enjoy. And thank me.
Oh, and my citrus addiction manifested itself in two dessert clemmies:

I concluded my night with a cup of English Breakfast tea. Ironic, yes.
My early waking hours this week effected my internal alarm and I was up by 6:30. I laid in bed a while but knew I wanted to start my morning and my Christmas break with some yoga. I whipped out my mat and did 30 minutes of Vinyasa On-Demand. It was boring, since I’ve done this video before, and nothing super challenging or new. Yet, my shoulders are still shaking from Warrior 2 = success. My body is so so tight from sitting and hunching all week. I might do more yoga later today, although I promised myself a 5 miler on the treadmill at the gym – it’s too frigid here for running, my lungs would be shot. Breakfast was an improved-upon repeat.
it started with come Christmas blend:

Then I washed a Gala with this much-neglected product:

Chopped ‘er up:

Microwaved, mixed, added cinnamon and TrueVia, microwaved again, added skim, microwaved again, added Kashi Heart to Heart and:

SO GOOD and warm and comforting! But it was missing something – I think I might add raisins or peaches (from my frozen stash) tomorrow. Since I know this’ll be making a repeat.
In other fun news, I got my first Christmas present yesterday! From my little:

A new Pandora charm! The faith, hope, love one – with a cross, anchor, and heart. It’s a sorority thing. I added it to my sad and pathetic Pandora bracelet, which is now still far from complete with three beads:

I’m getting lunch with my dad later too! I told him yesterday I wanted Indian, but now I think that might be too heavy for lunch? Maybe Mexican. We’ll see. It is freezing, I kind of just want soup! Also later, find out what this monstrosity is:

Have a great day!
