Good afternoon!

Little did I know that yesterday when I achieved a new yoga pose for the first time (wheel!) that it was National Yoga Day! Little things like that make me happy :0)

Yesterday at the gym I rocked out on the elliptical for 45 minutes, did some planks, crunches, and yoga moves in the mat area. When the middle aged woman next to me whipped out a HEADSTAND and several other intense yoga poses without toppling over, I threw out a few wheels in celebration. She didn’t seem to notice. I held back an intense desire to strike up a conversation about yoga with her and ask her to be my guru. After one ab machine, I gained the courage to do a couple arm machines – um … arm extension is awkward. I started out with 30 lbs. = HAHAHA I managed to get out 12 reps, then switched to 15 lbs. for 12 more reps, and down to 10 lbs. for the final set. I legitimately have no arm/upper body strength. Really must work on this. I also did 3 sets of 12 reps on the overhead press, again on a sad 10 lbs. Barely got them out. To make myself feel better about my lack of arm strength, I sped through a mile on the treadmill, incline 1, in 9 minutes.

After stopping to get my beastly eyebrows waxed and literally pick up apples, oranges, and carrots at Big Y, I headed on home to make lunch.

There was another half to that wrap that made its way into my mouth before the camera could capture it. Soooo my oranges are pink! I got confused and thought I bought a mini grapefruit or something by accident, but nope! The sticker on the other one is pink and says they’re Cara Cara Navels from Sunkist! I never knew there were pink oranges, but it was a fun surprise!
This lunch was soo good and satisfying! For dinner, I headed over to the restaurant at the Student Union with two of my sisters. Like other times, I got the “Sesame Encrusted Grilled Tuna Steak with Wasabi MayoSesame encrusted grilled tuna steak topped with baby field greens, avocado, red onion & cucumber with spicy wasabi mayo on a toasted kaiser roll. Served with a mixed green salad or chips.”

No pic, sorry! It’s not very attractive anyway, but I do love it! I got the sandwich on multigrain bread instead of the white kaiser roll, wasabi mayo on the side (it’s super super spicy!) and ate it open face on only one slice of bread. I always get the wasabi mayo on the side because it is STRONG, so I just dab some on with my knife as I go. On the side, I got a mixed green salad with their champagne vinaigrette. I dipped my fork into the dressing before stabbing my mixed greens – perfect amount!
For dessert, I stole the two maraschino cherries off of my friends’ brownie sundaes – yum!
After dinner, we headed over to the NPHC step-show. The NPHC is the umbrella organization for historically black fraternities and sororities. If you don’t know what stepping is, YouTube it NOW! It’s so amazing and entertaining. It was really fun but we were exhausted (22 year olds have early bed times) and left kind of early. Before bed, I snacked on some popcorn:

I woke up this morning – arms and back sore from machines and the wheel! – and repeated my YogaDownload.Com favorite podcast of Morning Flow #1. Because I was a little sore, getting into wheel was a bit more difficult today, but I did it!

After breakfast I did some work in bed and eventually headed over to the school gym. I had a lot of energy and thought I wanted to run, but after 5 minutes on the treadmill, I got bored of staring at the pool and switched to elliptical. I spent an hour on a random setting and did some reading for Nutrition Through the Lifecycle. My friends came and made fun of me for doing school reading the first week of school, but I like it! And also, it’s science, which I really need to keep up with as I’m not so great at it.

I accidentally opened the cap off the cinnamon bottle instead of just flipping it up, and so got a pile of cinn on 3 apple slices. Oh well, I just shook it off and made a cinnamon dipping pool! The wrap was so good – Flat Out wraps are so fluffy and soft – they go great with egg whites!
Right now I’m feeling kind of snacky .. better go find something!

I’m not very hungry at all in the mornings, so simple and small is the way to go for me.

After math, I trotted to work where I actually did internship work the whole 3 hours (unheard of!), sipped some Tazo Zen green tea to fight the slight cold I’ve managed to contract in less than a week on campus, and had a delicioso and unpictured lunch of a Strawberry Banana Chobani and MultiGrain Cheerios. Big Y and Whole Foods were slacking in the new Chobz flavor department, so I am currently only stocked with plain, strawberry, and blueberry. Tragic.

Pre-gym, I snacked on the other half a Cherry Pie Larabar (review to come):

At el jimnasio, I spent 30 boring minutos on the stair stepper, watching “Taking the Stage” and thinking of who I would kill for that blonde girl’s body. NBD. I then stole my friend’s treadmill upon her 5k completion, to rock out one of my own in such an order:

I felt like the incline wasn’t working (at least as well as it should be) and also that I wasn’t really working that hard – which I guess can be a good thing in that it would mean I’m getting faster and stronger (a la Kanye), or I unknowingly ingested some roids yesterday. Either way.

I finished up with some crunches, side crunches, and plank sets and was sweating harder doing abs than cardio. Sad? Or the result of built in fans on the treadmill and a gym built after 1970? Who can really tell?

Upon returning and showering, I made my way over to the mailroom for my anticipated PB2 package. However, it was not PB2 as the package was from December. I check the mail a lot. However, the package is still a mystery because the mail room lost it. Mail fail. Their job is really hard, though. Oh, wait ….

ANYWAY, I had my planned snack without its peanut buttery counterpart:

I got myself pretty-fied and re-did my nails in OPI’s We’ll Always Have Paris, which phrase I hope to apply to me and the future hubz some day. Some of my girls frisked me away for a night out of sushi and a movie. FAB!

At Japanese, we started off flirting with a two year old named Lorenzo. NBD. But fo realz (and I have no photographic evidence of this because I didn’t really know two of the girls) I started off with a hot tea and a house salad with a tub of addicting ginger dressing. I housed it. Hahahaha, get it? Sorry, caffiene kick.

I also ordered two rolls – the tuna and avocado roll and the Philadelphia roll, which has salmon, cream cheese, and scallions. I “challenged” myself to order the Philly roll (which is my all time fave) because of the cream cheese – I can’t remember the last time I ate it due to its supa fatty content and the fact the I don’t eat bagels really. Anyway, I’m glad I did because it was SO WORTH IT. Delish. I also ordered both rolls with brown rice, which cost an extra dolla bill, but my health doesn’t care about my wallet. Plus, brown rice is chewier and nuttier in texture and flavor. It also falls out of the rolls more easily, but no big – I just had an extra mini pile of rice to eat after.

In regards to the post title, I realized later I consumed a significant amount of saturated fat today, at least when compared to a normal day, where I try not to consume anyway, unless in the form of a Larabar or something out of my eating control. My 2% yogurt, Larabar half, and cream cheese in the sush all contributed to the sat fat intake – yet all in a very small way. None of these portions were out of control and are in healthy foods as a whole. So really, everything in balance really does apply everywhere. Small revelation, sorry.

After dinner, we had some time to kill before the movie, which is in the same “mall” and right across from the restaurant. We wandered through the closing down “mall,” bought some scratch offs (with which I won the $2 I spent on it back) and meandered through Kohl’s, on the search for jeggings. No jeggings were found, but we did manage to smell every single candle they had in the store.

We eventually made our way over to the theater to see The Lovely Bones. I read the book maybe 5 or 6 years ago, definitely in high school, so I don’t remember all the details. but I was super excited to see it. Plus, I love Stanley Tucci – and therefore was somewhat disturbed about his role in the movie, but he rocked it. I won’t go into detail in case you haven’t read it and want to be surprised, but a lot was changed from the book, but not in a detrimental way. You just can’t fit 8+ years of book into 2 hours. Regardless of the book, it is a really excellent movie. I was expecting to be really upset and disturbed by it (as I sobbed hysterically reading the book), but I actually didn’t cry once. There were a lot of gasps, though. See it and let me know what you think!

This morning I woke up and did yoga for the first time since I’ve been back at school – the 20 minute podcast of Morning Flow #1 from YogaDownload.Com. It.was.fab.u.lous. I have missed you, yoga. Plus – I GOT INTO FULL WHEEL POSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am incredibly inflexible and my back is always particularly tight. This flow focuses on back bends and openers, and I took it slow, listened to Dawnelle, and actually got my arms and back to cooperate and flex into Wheel Pose. I seriously got a rush. Like, a legitimate rush. From yoga. I can’t express how much I love it right now. After the flow was done, I tried it again to make sure it wasn’t a dream/fluke. Nope. My day just started out awesome in Wheel Pose.

I’m heading to the gym with my roomie in a bit, with some definite strength training on the plan. I think we’re going to grab lunch and head to the lib for a little, before going to the National Pan-Hellenic Council’s step show tonight. If you don’t know what that means, Google it and be amazed. PS – This is my second-day-of-school outfit. I was feeling pretty fab and bossy in it. The first day I wore leggings and a hoodie – standard, as I thought I was going to the gym midday.

Also known has 1/2 cup of pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, and one egg white microwaved for 4 minutes, topped with plain Chobani mixed with vanilla extract and TruVia and sprinkled with a Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax granola plank. Yum.

I really wanted waffles for breakfast but I opened the freezer and tried not to cry when there weren’t any :(. I was in a bit of a time crunch, so making some was a no-go. I settled.

I never had blue milk before this morning! I had a doctor’s appointment, after which my mom and I headed into New Haven to have lunch at Claire’s Corner Copia, a fairly famous vegetarian restaurant. Sorry for the BlackBerry pictures!

I had the roasted vegetable salad with feta, which came with a grainy roll (not sure if it was multigrain or whole wheat?) and an iced tea. Honestly, it wasn’t good. The vegetables were pretty oily – so much so that the bed of spinach they came on got soaked. The veggies were cold. I don’t get cold roasted vegetables? They were also pretty tasteless because of the oil – I really don’t understand why people drench things in oil. It takes all the flavor out! Regardless, I was starving and ate all the veggies minus the peppers but left most of the lettuce and half the feta (there was a lot more than pictured). I also had half of the roll, which is a lot bigger than it looks. The roll was the best part! It was warm and so doughy, fluffy and chewy – perfect bread! I took the other half home.
After running some errands, I was still hungry when we got home, so I snacked on an exceptionally good Fuji before some nappage occured:

I was planning on taking today off from the gym, but I got so bored I ended up getting dressed, but then talking myself out of it again. I went back and forth for a while until Grey’s came on Lifetime and made my decision for me. Of course I got exhausted right after that so it was a good call. I just snacked on some carrots and sriracha:

Last night after my post-gym snack, I wanted more clementines, but my brother had eaten the rest of them.  When I made my snack, there were probably 10.  An hour later, 0.  Sweet.  So I ate an increasingly squishy but delicious pear.

I woke up and had coffee but didn’t hear one rumble for two hours.  Even then, it was far from starvation, but I needed to get my metabolism moving!  Daily Chobani consumption occurred:

0% Plain Chobani, banana, MultiGrain Cheerios

After digesting a bit, I attempted a full-length podcast YogaDownload.Com class, but at times it was kind of slow moving and it was pretty repetitive, so I got bored after half an hour and quit.  Oh well, I was supposed to take today off anyway.

Eventually I made myself eat lunch/3pm meal:

Eh – I don’t think I’ll pair the remaining leftovers with balsamic – it wasn’t that great.  Roasted vegetables are amazing on their own anyway!

My dad was taking my brother and I out to dinner for my birthday and we went back to Sakura.  I just love it!  Definitely my favorite restaurant and I haven’t had Japanese in so long.  I debated all afternoon over the grilled vegetables and tofu dish or sushi.  It’s freezing out and I wanted something warm, but I’ve also slacked on my sushi obsession the past few months.

Forgot my camera (but found my charger!).  I started off with some miso soup and a glass of Pinot Grigio, from the Campanile, in Italy.  I ended up going with the “Grilled Vegetables and Tofu.”  It was pretty good!  There was broccoli, cauliflower, orange and green peppers, onion, shredded zucchini and carrots, and about eight generous hunks of super soft tofu in a soy-based sauce.  I’d guess there was also sesame oil – but not too much! – and ginger in the sauce as well.  The portion size was pretty perfect as well – it was probably a serving of tofu, maybe a little more, and tons of veggies.  It was the perfect amount of food – ate it all except for the peppers (ick).  I’d definitely order it again!

I was planning on having the last piece of my birthday carrot cake from Friday when we got back, but my mom had tried a bite of it, deemed it too stale, and threw it out.  Sad face.  I watched Heavyweights with my brother –  classic.  Since this post is completely void of anything interesting, I’m bringing back the Tuesday Top 5!

Top 5 Healthy Foodie Products I Want to Try – in no particular order

  • VitaTops/Muffins/Brownies.  I mean, really.  Fudgy peanut butter?  Let’s be friends.  Corn muffin top?  I would find uses for you no one else could dream of.  I can only find Banana Walnut by me and as a college student – the price tag is a tad steep.
  • FitNutz/PB2.  Mix-in peanut butter really intrigues me.  Sometimes I want the taste without all the calories and fat.  I know it’s good fat, but still.  Dying to try!  Nowhere near me in stores and I’ve banned myself from food shopping online.
  • Nutridel Cookies.  Jenny made them sound so delicious – and seriously, they’re healthy cookies!  Imagining them crumbled in some Chobani makes me drool.  See above excuses.
  • Heart Thrives.  I’ve seen these all over, can’t find them anywhere, and seriously can’t pay to ship my food.  Gah!
  • Me and Goji Cereal.  Seriously – best company idea ever?  Perfect for picky eaters!

Every week I go on at least one of these websites and debate ordering – but my bank account holds me back!  Let me know if you think they’re worth it (even though I already agree)!

Seriously delish. I might add some Truvia or honey next time for a little more sweetness, but it really was like a giant oatmeal raisin cookie!

After a brief trip out with mama, I came home on the verge of being hangry! I was craving falafel and sweet potato fries. So I made both. While my “fries” were baking, I made this Hugh Jass salad:

It was a beast containing:
  • The remainder of the spinach container (3 cups?)
  • The last 3 Veggie Patch falafel balls
  • Brocc
  • Green beans
  • Peas
  • Hummus
  • Tzatziki
  • Frank’s

It was delicious and devoured. Then these were done:

We had plans to go to a Cuban restaurant in New Haven, but they couldn’t seat us for a while, so my uncle suggested Barcelona, a tapas and wine bar. I’ve been DYING to go here since the summer. There is one closer to us, in Fairfield, but we were meeting my stepbrother and he lives closer to New Haven.

Fail: no pictures. I REALLY wanted to take them, but my I’m still to shy in public :(.

I started off with a white wine, a 2007 Albarino from Pedro de Soutomaior in Rias Baixas, Spain. It was really great – refreshing, crisp, fruity – but not sweet. My mom and stepdad had the red sangria but I didn’t try it. It was really really hard to choose what to get to eat. For tapas, aka “small plates”, you can get a few tapas for your meal, or a tapas as an appetizer and an entree – there’s probably thousands of combinations you could make.

I ended up choosing 3 tapas for my meal:

  • Warmed Cana de Cabra (goat cheese) with Port Figs and Green Apple
  • Spinach-Chickpea Casserole with Cumin & Garlic Confit
  • Pulpo a la Plancha – Octopus with Fingerling Potatoes, Smoked Paprika, and Celery

Yes. It’s okay to be jealous.

My stepdad got the Boquerónes (fresh marinated anchovies) and something else I can’t remember. He and my mom also split the the Roasted Chickpea Puree with House-Made Pita Chips, the Homemade Cumin-Scented Chicken Empanadas with Avocado Puree, and some roasted brussel sprouts with garlic and bacon (not on the online menu so not sure of the exact name/ingredients). My mom also ordered the Albondigas (meatballs). My uncle was at the other end of the table, so I’m not sure what he ordered, but my stepbrother and brother both ordered the Pepper-Rubbed Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes, Brandy Reduction, and Crispy Onions.

After we ordered, fresh loaves of bread were brought to the table and olive oil was poured. As it was white bread, I didn’t have any, but everyone said it was delicious and very warm and fresh. The tapas were brought out as they were ready. I got my goat cheese, fig, and apple platter first, on a long white platter, each ingredient perfectly separated from the other.

OH. EM. GEE.

Warm, creamy, amazing goat cheese. Port-soaked juicy, chewy, sweet figs. Crisp, tart, refreshing slices of Granny Smith. Really there are no words except Gina’sFOODGASM. And the perfect dish. The best thing I’ve ever eaten (in America).

The spinach and chickpea “casserole” came out next, in a small, shallow round dish. Whole chickpeas were covered in the most thinly sliced spinach I’ve ever seen. To be honest, I couldn’t taste any cumin, and only got the taste of garlic a few times throughout the dish. It was good, but if those two flavors had been more pronounced, it would have been great.

Then the warm octopus salad came out. It was in a small, shallow, rectangular dish with octopus (flesh and tentacles), whole fingerling potatoes, celery slices, and red onions. The octopus was perfectly cooked – chewy, but not rubbery at all, and very savory. The potatoes were great too, but overall, the dish was WAY too salty. I actually didn’t finish it. Shocking – I know. Also, there was bacon in the dish, which I tasted before I saw. This was not indicated on the menu, and if it had been, I probably wouldn’t have ordered it. I would also be concerned for pescatarians/flexitarians/quasitarians/whatevertarians here – octopus would might be okay for them to order, but the bacon wouldn’t be! Also, I’m not sure if octopus is known to be fatty (?) but one of my pieces was entirely fat. I actually spit it out into my napkin .. conspicuously, I promise.

I tried the brussel sprouts my parents ordered – amazing. I also had two of the home-made pita chips with the chickpea puree (okay, let’s just call it hummus, because that’s what it is). The chips were visibly oily (ick), but perfectly toasted and crunchy with a great not-too-salty taste. The hummus was RIDICULOUSLY good. It had such a unique taste – including lots of garlic, which I love! I finished it off with a fork. Yup, just me and forkfuls of hummus at dinner. So classy.

It was all plated beautifully, brought out quickly, and with great service. That is, until we ordered dessert. I just got a cup of decaf (plus I still had some wine), but my uncle and brother ordered the Churros y Chocolate with Dark Chocolate Dipping Sauce and my stepdad got the Warm Carrot Cake with Cinnamon Ice Cream – mostly because my mom and I wanted just a bite. After we got our coffee, our once-attentive serve virtually disappeared and we waited 20 minutes for our dessert. It was obvious we had been forgotten about because when it was finally brought over, the ice cream on my step-dad’s plate was melted. At least plate a new dish to make it look like it hasn’t been sitting out, waiting.

I had just a bite of the carrot cake – and I’ve had better. There was no frosting on it – I guess the ice cream is supposed to serve as the frosting, but I didn’t want any. It was good, but not great. Carrot cake is my favorite so I would have been disappointed, but I’m glad I just tried it. I didn’t try the churros, but I guess they were just okay too.

Overall, it was a really great experience! My family and I had never had tapas before, so it was fun to try together. Definitely my new favorite restaurant. So so good. The atmosphere is great – very laid back, dimmed lights, nice ambiance. Modern, but welcoming. There’s so much more I want to try – and from what I can tell, things change seasonally and they use some local ingredients – woo! Go!

Back to school tomorrow for two weeks of class and a week of finals 😦 I have so much to do it’s not even funny. Normally I would feel bad about neglecting so much work over break, but I needed just that – a break. It was AMAZING to just lay in my bed all day, run when I want to (not just when I have time), spend time with my family, and have a lot more eating freedom .. especially discovering tapas. Hopefully I’ll finish my laundry tonight – nothing like waiting til the last minute! Then tomorrow I’ll get up early, run/gym, pack, and peace. With a special trip to cheer myself up on the way back to Storrs …

What’s your favorite thing to get at Whole Foods? I always love trying new foods! As much as my blog does not reflect that …

As much as that song should remind me of Christmas time, it actually reminds me of my favorite commercial – the Staples ones that comes on in early August, with the dad dancing around the store merrily throwing school supplies into his cart .. anyone?

That is was already blue, I mean.  I’m used to Chobani’s fruit at the bottom strategy, so I was expecting white yogurt with fruit to mix in.  But there wasn’t any fruit at the bottom for  me to mix, it was already done for me!

Siggi’s Icelandic Blueberry Skyr Opinion
Taste:
The skyr was really good!  About as tangy and tart as plain Greek yogurt, with a definitive blueberry taste.  It doesn’t scream “I TASTE LIKE BLUEBERRY,” but has a more subtle flavor throughout.  Very unique, and very good.  4/5.
Texture: You can see how thick it is – like 2% or whole milk Greek yogurt.  It’s also incredibly creamy – 5/5.
Fill Factor:
I wasn’t very hungry for breakfast and I didn’t eat it alone, but I think it would be a great snack and was filling for a smaller breakfast with only a couple hours until lunch.  I wouldn’t eat it alone for a meal, but definitely a snack.  3/5.
Ingredients: Above is the list of what’s not in it, and here is what it does contain: “Pasteurized skim milk, agave nectar, blueberries, live active cultures, vegetable rennet.”  5/5.

I’ll definitely be buying this again!  I can’t wait to try the plain and the orange & ginger flavors I bought!  I wish they hadn’t been out of the grapefruit and acai – all of the others sound so good too.  I just wish I could afford to buy them when they’re not on sale 😦

After breakfast I headed to luxurious Tar-jay and knocked out 80% of my Christmas shopping – go me!  I also picked up some fun dishes …

Then my mom and I went out to grab lunch and run some errands.  At an AMAZING local soup/salad/sandwich place, Chef’s Table, I built my own salad:

Romaine, red onion, grilled chicken, steamed brocc, maple glazed sweet potatoes, chickpeas

It was my first time and it was heaven.  Almost like Whole Foods.  Almost.  I wasn’t going to buy anything, just show my mom some ideas for Christmas, but then I saw this –

The Brisk Run Headband in Lolo Purple.  My ears are really the only thing (besides my hands) that I have trouble keeping warm on runs lately.  I figured $14 wouldn’t cause too much damage to my ever-dwindling bank account.  Then I was drawn to the pants wall .. and the Wunder Under pant, specifically.

Except the new version with the “Groove” waistband, white and black manifesto, to be exact.  The sales woman was super nice and I FIT INTO A SIZE 4 and my mom and the sales woman told me they looked good and my mom gave me some money towards them and I haven’t been a size 4 since middle school.  So I will be debuting and reviewing them tomorrow!  I’m actually wearing them now because I get super excited about new $82 leggings – I am ridiculous but I’m okay with that.  I know they’ll never fall apart and perhaps spending such an insane amount of money on running leggings will motivate me to use them.  I intend to break them in with some yoga after dinner, because it has been FAR too long and wearing Lulu makes me feel like I should be doing some yoga.

After a couple more stops, we were finally home and I snacked on this apple:

I have been so exhausted in every way all day long.  Of course, when it’s actually time for bed – I can’t sleep.

I woke up at 9, not really hungry, but knowing I needed to eat then or have to wait until after yoga.  I had this tried and true combo:

Yoga was great!  We had the same instructor that taught my core yoga class the other night, but this was her normal yoga class.  I liked it a lot better.  For one, she talked less, but also, there was a greater variety of poses – including hip openers!  There were no standing poses?  And no downward dogs 😦 but overall it was a really great class with some new poses.  I’m definitely going to try to make it to her class during the week.

After yoga, which was a sorority sisterhood event, we had lunch catered by Panera!  Yum!  I grabbed half a Mediterranean Veggie sandwich and some pickles (although strangely only one is picture …)PB140038PB140039
I’d never had it before, but it was really good!  There was feta, cilantro hummus, romaine, red onion, tomato, cucumber, and peppadew peppers.  The website says it was on tomato basil bread, but one of my sisters said it was on a different kind?  Whatever it was, it was amazing!  Perfectly fluffy and soft, with a great crust!

After lunch, my roommate and I put on the second Harry Potter movie (we fell asleep to the first one last night) and proceeded to pass out for two hours.  Wait, why can’t I sleep?

I really wanted to run today – even though it was raining.  I had all intentions to even go to the gym after dinner, but my body is just. so. tired.  I don’t know what it is about this week, but my legs feel weak.  It’s hard to explain.  I’m not sore (except for my abs, thanks to Whittle My Middle), but the tops of my thighs and my hips just feel TIRED.  So I gave them a break today.  I think my fatigue is also related to the random sickness I had a couple days ago, which I’m scared is returning with a cough :(.  I hope I wake up feeling all right!  This whole being 2am-already-thing is messing with my schedule for tomorrow before it even (really) starts.  Being off schedule makes me anxious, but I’ll try to just go with what I feel since obviously my body needs some rest this week.

My roommate and I had a dinner date at the on-campus restaurant in our Student Union.  I got the Sesame Encrusted Grilled Tuna Steak with Wasabi Mayo  – “Sesame encrusted grilled tuna steak topped with baby field greens, avocado, red onion & cucumber with spicy wasabi mayo on a toasted kaiser roll. Served with a mixed green salad or chips.”

So good!  I’ve had it before, but the wasabi mayo was WAY too strong, even for me.  This time I got it on the side, as well as on whole grain bread instead of the kaiser roll.  The tuna, grilled rare and made so amazing by the grilled sesame seeds it’s coated in, was SO MUCH BETTER on the whole grain bread.  I also had the mixed green salad with low-fat honey dijon on the side.  I used very little dressing because it’s very thick and a little goes a long way.  The wasabi mayo was so much better this time, since I was able to use my knife to spread on as much as I wanted – just a thin layer on each side was enough.  It was a really great meal, especially since I don’t have to use real money to pay and I was full all night long!  That’s what good carbs, healthy fats and protein will do for you!

So I’ve just been lounging all night, tried going to sleep an hour ago, and realized it just wasn’t happening.  Finally, I got up and made a snack:

I get really thirsty before bed but don’t like getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, so this was a great snack.  I feel hydrated and actually a little tired now.  Plus, I need to eat up a lot of my perishables – eggs, milk, yogurt, veggies and fruit – before I go home for the whole week I have off for Thanksgiving!  I can’t wait to be home for 10 straight days.  I already have some fun foodie activities planned.  I think I’m going to read some more blogs and try to sleep again .. good night!  (morning …)
