Yes, I am slowly going insane as I rot in my kitchen chair for hours on end, replaying the Wicked soundtrack while my brother begs me to stop. He’s so anti-musical. And anti-fun.

In an effort to reduce the stress-induced hump that my back and shoulders are forming, I did end up heading to the gym last night. I spent 15 minutes on the elliptical, 20 on the treadmill – averaging a 9 minute mile, and then 15 on the StairMaster. I think that the treadmill was flat out wrong about what speed I was going. I can easily keep up at 9:30 mile outside, but it’s ALWAYS harder on the treadmill in the gym at school. But yesterday, at my gym here at home, it was easy. I even kept up a 7mph pace for quite a while, hence the 9 min/mile average. And on an incline. I just don’t think that’s right. The treadmills at school are Precor and this one was a Cybex – does anyone know if they’re known to be inconsistent or different at pacing? Maybe I’l google it.

Before the gym there was snacking:

PC120493.JPG PC120494.JPG
Yummy clementines!

Anyway, I came home sweating and not-yet-starving and so made a little bit more effort with dins:

Amy’s Black Bean Burrito + Fage and Frank’s with carrots, celery, and cukes to dip in Sabra Spinach and Artichoke Hummus.
More effort = making my Amy’s burrito in the oven instead of the microwave. Aside from a crispier burrito, no difference!
My brother had the Burrito Espcial:

PC120499.JPG PC120498.JPG
I find it odd that in my black bean burrito, black beans aren’t the first ingredient, but they are in his. Interesting? No? Just me? Okay.
I was super full from dinner that I didn’t snack all night. I woke up this morning and had my favorite:
2 Eggo NutriGrain WW waffles with 1/2 a Macintosh + cinnamon and coffee times 2

Lunch looks familiar, yes?

PC130512.JPG PC130511.JPG
Sweet potato with black beans and plain Chobani + Frank’s, and a WW bread nub with a tbsp of hummus

PC130513.JPG PC130516.JPG
Hot cocoa + more clems

I also diagnosed Allie from The Notebook with Stage 23of Alzheimer’s Disease, in which there is a moderately severe cognitive decline and intensified confusion, including being unable to recall the names of family members and life events.

Then I went to the gym with my 38-page study guide. I spent an hour on the treadmill, alternating walking 3mph on an level 8 incline with walking 3.5mph on a level 9 incline. There is quite a difference, believe me.
Dinner was breakfast:

Arnold’s MultiGrain sammie thin with three egg whites, a plain LC wedge, and organic ketchup + a Fortune apple with leftover Chobsies + cinnamon
I saw the Fortune apples at the grocery store yesterday and picked some up – I’d never heard of them before. The sign described them as slightly crisp and slightly spicy. I thought spicy was a good description – hard to explain, but true! They were both crisp and a little mealy, which I generally don’t like (hence why I despise Red Delicious) but I liked it here, since it wasn’t too much meal.
I was going to head back to school late tonight, but it’s raining and I hate driving at night, especially in the rain. What can I say, I’m not the best driver. Plus how can I turn down another night in the world’s most comfortable bed? Even if it means getting up at 5:30 …

Sorry for no Tuesday Top 5 last night – my paper took over my night! After dinner I headed to Starbucks to work on it without distractions. While I was there, I had a Tazo Joy tea and a peanut butter cookie!

Luna bar Peanut Butter Cookie that is … it was just okay. It didn’t taste very peanut buttery but I think I’m getting sick so I’ll give it another chance and a full review later. On the way home, I stopped for some sandwich thins (Arnold’s, NOT Pepperidge Farm) and some Tylenol nighttime cold medicine – which did absolutely nothing as I still couldn’t breathe last night.

Before bed I wanted something salty and my kettlecorn called out to me. I obliged it.

And also burnt it.

This morning, I woke up to this:

And this:

Yes, I didn’t even want to open the front door to take a proper picture. Only classes at 8 and 9 were cancelled, but my teacher cancelled my 11 on her own, so I didn’t bother going to my 10 o’clock. Instead I stayed in the warm house and worked on my paper. I did end up leaving to come to work an hour early so that I can get to the library sooner this afternoon.

Breakfast was warm and yummy:

Started with some 365 Breakfast Blend with skim and Truvia

1 egg + 1 egg white and a plain LC wedge on Arnold’s MultiGrain Sandwich Thin plus an orange

Now that I’ve caught up on blogs, entered Heather’s Vita-Mix giveaway, farmed, done some of the NY Times crossword puzzle, and refreshed my Twitter homepage multiple times, I think it’s time to do some work. And eat lunch, obviously. And get some sinus medicine …

Because it is December 3 and today it was 65 degrees. I went running in shorts and tee shirt. It is Connecticut. Also, it’s supposed to snow Saturday.

The semester is (finally) winding down and that makes me super busy busting out papers, rewrites, extra credit, and oh yeah, finals.

The past couple days have been boring anyway. A couple nice 4-milers, and a lot of boring classes I’ve had to farm my way through. Why am I an English major?

Some pics of mi comida from the past couple days:

Some carrot cake. Review soon.
Library snackage: snap peas, carrots, hummus, and salsa.
Apple – plus about 8 more ….
Strawberry Chobani and Kashi Heart to Heart
Hummus, raisin, and spinach sammie + Honeycrisp
Plain 0% Fage (loverrrrr) + strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, a blackberry, and a Kashi Honey Toasted 7 Gain granola plank.

PC020350.JPG Everyday 365 Breakfast Blend in my new Starbucks mug.*

PC020356.JPG PC020357.JPG PC020358.JPG 3 egg white, LC French Onion, Frank’s and salsa in a WW tortilla + tiny apple with cinnamon.

* My new Starbucks mug! Stolen in our office’s holiday party Yankee swap (along with a $5 gift card to Starbies!). It’s so cool! The black part is like a blackboard and it comes with a white pen to decorate the mug with. You bake it in the oven for 10 minutes and the paint sets! Such a great present idea if you need one!

Woo. Hoo. 2 weeks from today the semester from hell will be OVER!!!!!!!!!!! And then I can focus on Christmastime fun and sleep, eat, and run for 4 straight weeks. Turning 22 is thrown in there too. Oh, and applying for jobs. Who knows how to write a good cover letter?? Or knows of any entry-level student affairs positions in higher ed, or store management jobs?

Dinner at the dhall was actually really delicious – and NOT a salad! Kosher kitchen is the way to go. Salmon with mixed veggies and summer squash, plus a piece of whole wheat toast with smart balance. So good.

Now I’m watching Elf and admiring our house’s Christmas tree :0)

Sorry for being MIA yesterday, Sundays when I head back to school are always hectic!

I got up around 8 and went for one last jog in the valley – 3 miles in about 29 minutes. It wasn’t the easiest run ever – I didn’t have to convince myself to take it easy, I was just too tired to go near my normal 9:30 pace. Oh, I also had the genius idea to not eat or drink anything beforehand. My stomach wasn’t happy about that. Plus it was cold. Once you haven’t run during the winter in you know, four years, you (I) forget that the bitter cold of a New England winter makes it hard to breathe. BOO.

I came home and had some brekkie:

Pepp Farm 7 Grain Deli Flat, 3 egg whites, french onion LC wedge with Frank’s and a kiwi

Arnold is still number one – sorry Mr. Pepperidge. I packed up Marge (my car, who is large and in charge) and left a little after 11. Back to reality comfort stop: Whole Foods Glastonbury – the best I’ve been to. After spending way too much time and money, this is what I came out with:

Baby spinach, a strawberry & blueberry Chobani, 365 Breakfast Blend coffee, black beans, sweet potato, giant tub of Fage, berries, Iced Gingerbread CLif, Luna Moons in pomegranate, whole wheat wraps, Honeycrisps, carrots, AND:

I’ve only been searching for two months …

I also had this when I got back to the cizzar:

Granny stolen from home.

After dropping all my stuff off at my room, not unpacking at all discovering that someone hit/took my passenger’s side mirror at WF, I headed straight to the library. My late cubicle lunch:

Hot Bar Salad – red and green lettuce leaves, marinated mushrooms, slammin’ salmon, beet salad, eggplant salad, curry tofu, and corn.
Devoured. The salmon was indeed slammin’. As were the beets, eggplant, and mushrooms. Curry tofu – not so much. It was SOAKED in water and not that tasty. I’ve been craving Indian all week, so boo. But everything else was as delicious as it should be for a $10 salad. So after eating that around 2:30-3, I was not hungry the rest of the day. I mean it. The next thing I ate was a carrot right before bed because I thought I should eat something even though I had absolutely no desire to. Appetites are weird like that.
After leaving the library for my meeting, I obviously spent the rest of the night reading blogs and neglecting any kind of homework. Eventually I tore myself away from Google Reader, slept, woke up (God I live an interesting life), and ate this:
Stonyfield Pumpkin Pie yogurt with a cup of Multigrain Cheerios.

Stonyfield Pumpkin Pie Opinion
Good, but not like pumpkin pie. Well, maybe if it was made with 10% pie filling and 90% water. 2/5.
Texture: After not eating yogurt that didn’t originate in Greece for the past 6 months, I was dreading the watery texture of normal yogurt. But it was pretty thick and creamy! 5/5.
Fill Factor:
This breakfast held me over pretty well through a class and the gym. I wasn’t starving by the time I ate lunch 4 hours later, just normal hungry, plus I went to the gym. Guess that 1% of fat did its job. 5/5.
Ingredients: “Cultured pasteurized organic low fat milk, naturally milled organic sugar, organic caramel color, organic carrot juice concentrate (for color), pectin, natural flavor, organic pumpkin juice concentrate (for color), vitamin D3.” How can caramel color be organic? And perhaps the pumpkin juice concentrate should be for taste and not color … ? 3/5.

Spent 9 minutes on the Stair Master at the weirdly busy gym before someone left my favorite elliptical and I hopped on that thing faster than this guy:

No shame. Execept for this scene:

Lunchers at the deskie:

Spinach, raisins, and hummus on a whole wheat wrap, plus Honeycrisp and water. Why so blurry, pictures?

Then eating nothing all day yesterday caught up to me and I scarfed down a peanut butter Z-bar too fast to review it. Oh well, there’s already one in this post. It was peanut buttery. I’d buy it again. So there.
Amazing, glorious dinner:
PB300326.JPG PB300327.JPG
1/2 of a sweet potato the size of a kitten + 1/2 cup of black beans with a dollop of Daisy Fage and a buffalo Crackwich.

Nomnomnom. WHY have I waited so long to try the sp/black bean combo?
In other news:
  • I submitted my first real life job application today! Wooo for being a productive member of society!
  • This girl is hilarious. Read this, laugh, and thank me. I just want to be like her in so many ways.
  • My upper back and shoulders are so tight and sore that I will soon look like this guy:
At least then I’ll look like the 80-year old woman I am at heart. Off to watch “Intervention” and put everyone else’s senioritis to shame …

for the holidays!  Right now I’m at the library, not writing my paper on The Secret Garden and listening to Christmas music!  Now I just want it to snow – too bad it’s about 60 and humid out – strangely like spring?  Okay, New England has weird weather.

I finally fell asleep last night a little after 3.  That’s definitely the latest I’ve stayed up in a long time.  I woke up at 9, not feeling too bad.  My sore throat is gone, just this little cough is left, so I think I avoided getting flat out sick – yay!  I had a banana and some coffee:
A little while later, I headed out to do 4 miles, but pretty quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen.  It is WARM out here – humid and mid-fifties this morning.  I thought that it was going to be very cool and windy, as it has been the past week, but no – it was a warm 55 and muggy.  The running capris and a long sleeve I wore didn’t help me feel better.  I could have comfortably ran in a tee and shorts.  I ended up doing 3.24 in 30:24.  Not as slow as I thought I was going, but still, for under 4 miles my pace should be better than 9:30/mile.  Oh well, I’m still not feeling 100%.

After showering, I made an egg sammie:

PB140047PB140048PB140049Arnold’s 100% WW Sandwich Thin + 3 egg white, a plain LC wedge, and Frank’s Red Hot with mango.

I added cinnamon to the mango after the pic – because what doesn’t taste better with cinnamon?  I wish I had been trying to make an omelet, because I unintentionally made a pretty great flip!

Hmm well it looked better in person.

I think all of the yoga this week is having an effect on my hips – they’re definitely sore and stiff.  I’m not sure if it’s a good pain, like I needed to be doing hip openers a long time ago, or bad, like I’ve been pushing them too hard in the poses?  I’m definitely going to talk to my mom about it – it’s so useful having two parents that are physical therapists when my body feels like it’s 80 rather than 21 most of the time.

Someone around me is eating an orange, which is really making me want one, but also even reminding me more of Christmas – we always have clementines at Christmas time.  I want this semester to be over!

Back to Frances Hodgson Burnett and her Christian Scientist beliefs …

Good morning!  I woke up at 6 to catch up on some homework I neglected yesterday – but no time for a run :(.  Of course, I had a delicious cup and a half of Archer Farms Fudge Brownie with skim and PureVia.  I didn’t get hungry for breakfast til 8:30!  My hunger is so strange in the morning.  Sometimes I can wait a couple hours to eat, other times I jump out of bed ravenous.

PB0411833 egg whites with salt, pepper, and Frank’s

PB041184PB041185On an Arnold’s 100% WW Sandwich Thin + LC French Onion wedge
PB041188Mini banana with cinnamon!

Cinnamon makes breakfast.  I swear it tastes great on any fruit!

I also downed a glass of water – staying hydrated!  Lunch is a packed random mixture of small things because of 4 hours of back to back classes and the gym, with Michael Pollan obviously.  Have a great morning!
